To complete my 60 internship hours for my journalism major, I am working at Cafe con Libros in Pomona. Cafe con Libros is a bookstore and community space serving Pomona and the surrounding cities. I began work at Cafe con Libros in March as a part of my community service taking photos and covering their community events for their website. I also joined the team pioneering their Oral History Project. For this project, my supervisor and I worked diligently to research and begin the semantics of developing the project before recruiting more volunteers. Currently, we are working on a literature review of books about Pomona’s history and are setting up a community event to introduce the project to Pomona. Our goal is to create a source of local information interviewing Pomona’s elders and prominent figures for future generations to enjoy and future doctoral candidates to use for their dissertation.
